System software Engineer

Job Description:

The Software Systems Engineer analyzes new situations, formulates new ideas and generates requirements with sufficient detail to start a new design. The Engineer applies broad knowledge of hardware, software and network technologies to generate system level design solutions. He or she investigates and resolves network and hardware matters of significance; researches, analyzes, isolates and resolves errors; assesses and updates networks as needed and in accordance with specified plans.

Interactions:

Supervision Received

Plans and carries out work assignments; resolves most conflicts which arise; coordinates work with others as necessary; interprets policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. Keeps Teamleader informed of progress, potentially

controversial matters, or far-reaching implications

Supervisory Duties:

Minimum Qualifications:

o Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field

o Minimum five years experience in electronics or avionics industry

o Three or more years of experience in data, voice or video networks

o Experience with Networking fundamentals such as TCP / IP Protocol stack

o Ability to understand concepts of network such as routing / DNS / DHCP etc

o Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located

o Must pass 10 year background check and drug test

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Broad knowledge of hardware, software and network technologies

o Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to generate design solutions

o Experience working with network systems and networking principles, data, voice or video

o Experience working with network software and hardware, data, voice or video

o Knowledgeable in one or more of these areas: satellite TV networks, large ground networks, communication systems, Hardware design, Software design, audio and video processing, wireless Ethernet and/or signal processing
