Culinary Excellence at Pier Sixty-Six ResortWe are seeking a highly skilled and seasoned Culinary Expert to join our team at Pier Sixty-Six Resort. As a key member of our culinary department, you will be responsible for creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.Reporting to the Sous Chef, you will support and provide excellent service in a high-volume kitchen environment. Your passion for culinary arts and exceptional communication skills will enable you to work effectively with our team to deliver outstanding results.

  • Develop strong working relationships with team members and contribute to achieving common goals.
  • Prepare special meals and substitute items as needed.
  • Assist with stocking and setting up kitchen stations.
  • Train new staff members in preparation methods and kitchen procedures.
  • Lead by example, adhering to our 5-star standards of excellence and executing job duties with precision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring cleanliness as you go.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and perform tasks efficiently in the kitchen.
  • Regulate oven temperatures, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Pull frozen food for thawing in the refrigerator.
  • Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and food garnish.
  • Maintain accurate food logs, monitoring quality and quantity.
  • Communicate assistance needs during busy periods.
  • Inform the Chef of excess food items for special menu creation.
  • Notify Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items.
  • Verify the quality of food items.
  • Possess a solid understanding of fundamental cooking methods, including broiler, saut--, fry, roast, and moist heat.
  • Familiarity with accepted sanitation standards.
  • Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment, such as stoves, ovens, broilers, steamers, and kettles.
  • Basic mathematical skills for understanding recipes, measurements, and portion sizes.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language for completing requisitions and communicating with team members.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality, presentation, and food preparation standards.Additional Responsibilities
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees; serve as a role model.
  • Follow company and safety policies; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to colleagues' concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
